Expert Answers about Chevrolet Trailer Spindles

  • Availability of Kodiak Hub and Rotor Assembly and Spindle For Venture VRT-4500 Trailer
  • I do have the Kodiak disc brake hub and rotor assemblies. If you let me know the bearing part numbers on your trailer I can get you the correct disc brake hub and rotor assembly. The Venture VRT-4500 trailer uses torsion axles, that has a conical spindle that is attached to the torsion arm. I do not have replacement spindles for a torsion axle. Usually when a spindle is damaged it ends up that replacing the whole axle is around the same price as the cost of parts and labor to just replace...

  • Available Sizes of Spindle Nuts and Nut/Washer Kits
  • The smallest spindle nut/washer kits we carry are for 1-inch spindles like # TRU94FR which are typically found on 2000-lb axles. We do offer a 7/8-inch inner diameter spindle nut # 165931 by itself but nothing for a 3/4-inch spindle as might be found on a small import trailer.

  • Available Sizes of Trailer Axle Spindles
  • TruRyde EZ Lube Spindle # TRU74FR does include a brake mounting flange already welded in place. The linked page displays all of our spindle products which include square-stub spindles without brake flanges like # TRU47FR. We do have 1-3/4-inch spindles but note these all have a round stub end, not a square stub. Spindles should be selected based on the axle's weight rating. This ensures the spindle has enough capacity to match the axle.

  • Availability of High Capacity Spindle
  • The highest capacity trailer spindle we offer is the TruRyde # TRU57FR spindle for 5.2-7K rated axles. The spindles are compatible with a 25580 Inner and an outer bearing with a 1.25 inch ID like the # 14125A, # LM67048, or # 15123.

  • EZ-Lube Spindle for L44649 Bearing and 10-60 Grease Seal
  • On the spindle # TRU44FR, the 1.25 inch refers to the diameter of the stub, not to any of the bearing surfaces, which might be what is confusing you. If you currently have the # 8-271-7UC3-EZ hubs that use the L44649 inner and outer bearing, the # TRU44FR would be the compatible EZ Lube spindle. Part # BK1-150 would be the correct bearing/ seal kit that uses the double-lip seal which we recommend for the EZ-Lube spindles. For your hub bore, you would use the grease cap # DC200L-DCRP. Instead...

  • How to Pick Out a Hub and Wheel for a Dolly Trailer
  • Sounds like you need hubs and wheels. We do not carry any wheels with built-in hubs. To pick out hubs to match your spindles you will need a few more measurements from your spindle. Using a dial caliper or micrometer you will need to get the measurements for the seal, inner, and outer bearings area of the spindle. See the picture I attached to see where exactly to measure. Once we have that information we can find out what hubs would fit your spindle, and then from there what wheels...

  • Timbren Axle-less Trailer Suspension Kit That Includes Spindles and Hubs

  • Replacement Trailer Spindles to Allow Installation of Different Hubs
  • All of the trailer spindles we sell are weld-on types, including those with brake flanges like TruRyde # TRU74FR that fits 1.75-inch diameter axles. The largest diameter spindle we sell is for a 2-1/4-inch axle beam, part # TRU37FR; this can be seen on the link provided. This spindle is for a 5200-lb axle and it has a 5-bolt brake mounting flange. It is almost surely going to be easier and less expensive for you to replace your axles than to have a professional welder install new spindles...

  • Available 8-Lug Trailer Hubs for Spindle TRU67FR
  • None of the available 8-on-6-1/2 hubs use the bearings required for a fit on agricultural spindle # TRU67FR. That spindle requires a hub that uses bearings 506849 and 501349. We have one hub that fits that spindle, part # AH60880FCOMP, but this has an 8-on-8 bolt pattern. We do offer trailer hubs with the 8-on-6-1/2 wheel bolt pattern. These include both hub/drums like Dexter # 42866UC3-EZ and idler hubs like # 42865-KIT and all appear on the linked page.

  • I have the Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly - 3,500 lbs Axles - 5 on 5-1/2, # 84555UC1, which is rated at 1,750 lbs. each. The bearings, races, cap and seal included. • Replacement Axle for 1981 Wells Cargo Enclosed Trailer That Shows Uneven Tire Wear
  • Uneven tire wear can indicate any of several problem conditions. If a tire tread surface wears on its outside edges more than it does in the middle of the tread then this generally indicates under-inflation. If it wears more in the middle than on the sides this indicates over-inflation. If the two tires on an axle both have more wear on the inside edges of the tread then this usually signals that the trailer has been overloaded. A bent spindle is of course another possibility. We do sell...

  • Availability of Brake Installation Kit with Spindles
  • Changing spindles on a trailer axle requires specialized jigs and is best left to a qualified experienced welder. Any deviations from perfect concentricity of the spindle and brake flange will result in bad performance and/or damage to the components. If you have the equipment and skills to do this that's great, but if not I urge you not take that on yourself. We do not offer kits with just spindles, brake assemblies and hubs, but we do sell axles with hubs, brakes, bearings, seals etc....

  • Hub Recommendation for 84 Spindle for Use in Saltwater
  • You have a number 84 spindle which we have a hub for. What you would want then is the part # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K which fits this spindle and is galvanized to help fight saltwater corrosion. This is an idler hub. If instead you need a hub/drum you would need the part # AKHD-545-35-G-EZ-K.

  • How to Determine what Replacement Hub and Bearing Kit
  • Thanks for sending a couple pictures! An agricultural spindle is mainly used in agricultural settings and best at low speeds. The best way to determine the correct parts for your homemade trailer, is to remove the hub from the trailer and either get part numbers from the inner and outer bearings and races, and grease seal or measure the spindle in 3 places and the hub in two places. I have included a photo showing the places to look for part numbers and places to measure. If the part...

  • Availability Of A 3,500 lb Torsion Axle
  • We actually do not carry torsion axles here at etrailer. We deal with round tube leaf spring axles. We do deal with axle-less suspension which is a type of torsion axle. For a 3,500 lb axle we have the # ASR3500S05. This is a standard duty, 3,500 lb axle less system that bolts directly to the frame of your trailer. This is the closest thing to a torsion axle that we carry. If your spindle is gouged, we do carry replacement spindles like the # TRU77FR which could be used to replace the...

  • How to Pick Out Replacement Trailer Hub Based on Spindle Dimensions
  • Can you get me the dimensions of the spindle where the bearings ride? With that info I can tell you what spindle you have and what hub would fit it. In order to do that you can either get the inner and outer bearing numbers from a hub or use a dial or digital caliper like part # PTW80157 to get exact measurements of the spindle. The measurements needed are the parts of the spindle where the bearings ride. If you get back to me with that information I will help you pick out the right hub...

  • Spindle Identification on an Old Horse Trailer
  • Based on the diameter of the spindle where the seal rides and the outer bearing dimension being .75 it sounds like you have the agricultural spindle # TRU54FR. Check out the chart in the product description that shows all of the dimensions of the spindle to verify this. You will need to use a dial caliper or micrometer to get an exact measurement. Only problem is that none of the hubs we offer that will fit this spindle are hub and drums nor have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. If I am...

  • The inner diameter of bearing # L68149 is 1.378 inches and the inner diameter of bearing # LM67048 is 1.250 inches. If you refer to the linked page showing all of our trailer spindles you will note that we do not have one with this particular combination of inner and outer bearing diameters. On the linked chart please refer to columns C and D, which indicate the inner diameters of the inner and outer bearings for each spindle shown. Also, please note that we do not have any hub assemblies...
